Poly B Pipe is a B*&^H but it doesn’t have to be so PAINFUL.

This month T2D TV and blog will be featuring Poly B pipe replacement.  The do’s and don’t, what to look for and what you should do if you have it.

So what is Poly B pipe? Poly Butylene pipe was the first plastic alternative to copper pipes introduced and used in Canadian homes from 1978 till 1998 when it was banned.  At the time it was an amazing alternative to very expensive copper pipe and offered plumbers a flexible and inexpensive alternative.

There is a BIG BUT HERE…..

It leaks.  There is a reason it was banned.  Not only do the fitting, either plastic or metal, cause the pipe to fail but also exposure to heat (like from hot water), chlorine and high water pressure.  Hairline cracks develop as the pipe gets brittle which can cause a leak anywhere along the pipe.  Not to mention catastrophic failure, water EVERYWHERE and no warning.

First up on Tap 2 Drain TV on Friday Steve will show you what Poly b pipe looks like and where to look in your home to see if you have it.  He will also explain why it leaks and what the fittings look like and some tips to help until we can get you fixed up.

In the second week, we talk about your home insurance.  What to do and who to call if you have a leak and most important who pays what. It can be scary navigating insurance companies and all the people involved but Tap 2 Drain has years of experience and we LOVE to help.

Third week will be all about replacement.  It really doesn’t have to be as scary as you think it will be.  Also can be a great negotiation tool for buying a home.  Steve will walk you through a ploy b repipe and show you how Tap 2 Drain has developed a system to make it as easy for the home owner as possible.

There will be a surprise for the fourth week so make sure you keep tuning in.

As always if you ever have any question PLEASE give us a call.  We are more than happy to make you smile!Call T2D
